12/1/96 -- Elberta, Al. 2:30pm
Information Solutions, an Alabama based consulting and software development firm announced today that it is beginning marketing efforts for a new product, in late development stages dubbed Object Realityä.
The product allows Java developers to visually design objects and their respective relationships using a popular object oriented methodology. In the announcement, Horak stated "Our goal is to provide a robust visual design and development tool that takes the developer all the way from design through code generation within the same tool. We feel it is vitally important that the design tool be the primary focus of the development effort. Other object oriented design tools tend to be used in the early design stages, but are put away once the initial code has been generated, causing the object diagrams be used merely as a high level design document. Many times these diagrams are useless because the design continues to evolve after the coding begins."
When asked about the flood of Java development tools already on the market, Horak replied "We feel our product is addressing an area of development that the competition has virtually ignored. Most Java development tools have focused on the GUI design, but offer little support in the area of object oriented analysis and design. We intend to provide an elegant tool for designing the back-end architecture necessary for large applications."
The initial release of the tool will run on Windows 95® or Windows NT®, followed soon thereafter by an OS/2 Warp® version. Later versions will provide support for C++ and integration with other 3rd party development environments.
Object Realityä is scheduled to go into beta testing during first quarter 1997, with general availability by mid year.
