Projects

System Integration Development

• Developed several integration applications used to perform batch or on-the-fly business data conversion and routing. An extensive framework was developed to provide access to various enterprise resouces including email, pager, logging, error notification, reporting, archiving, purging and a web-browser interface. Platforms supported include Unix, OS/390 and Windows. Tools or APIs utilized (partial list) included JavaCC (parser generator), JavaMail (email API) and reflection API. APIs/algorithms developed included file-watcher API, FTP api, logging API, file-mapping API, template based email generation API, report management API, template based JCL generation and submission API (for OS/390), JDBC wrapper API, EAI (webMethods) wrapper API.

• Developed an extensive framework, database and source/target agents for several large scale EAI integrations utilizing Oracle 8i, Java and webMethods(ActiveWorks) product set. Also developed front end EAI application using IBM VisualAge Java. This code makes extensive use of advanced Java features including serialization and reflection.

Outage Management (CRM component)

• Developed Outage Management application, both front-end (Powerbuilder) and back-end (Oracle) for very large energy utilities company. In use by several hundred agents.

Java Front-End for Data Warehousing Application

• Developed a front end for domain table maintenance of the Data Warehouse.

Automated bill transmission system

• Developed a system to select bills from mainframe billing application and send them to vendors via VAN (Value Added Network) or Fax. The faxing application formats the raw billing data into presentation bill complete with letterhead graphics.

Magazine fulfillment front-end system internationalization project

• This project consisted of internationalizing a magazine fulfillment application to enable fulfillment for National Geographic foreign titles as well as Time Inc. foreign titles.

Stock budgeting and reporting system design and development

• Designed and developed a budget and planning system for use in ordering stock supplies for the magazine renewals business. The system was developed in PowerBuilder 5.0 with Oracle on the back end. The final project contained over 200 PB objects and established an object component base for further development projects.

Internet magazine order capture system design and development

• Designed and developed the Web server extension DLLs (ISAPI) and email client applications to support the collection of magazine orders over the Internet for all Time supported magazines. Interfaced with Pathfinder and worked with additional web sites and ISPs in the process of developing additional functionality to support Internet access to subscriber information. The DLLs and email applications were developed using Microsoft Visual C++ and the MFC class library, with the back end connected over ODBC to an Oracle/NT database server. Due to compatibility problems between the Oracle ODBC driver and MS’s ISAPI implementation, portions were rewritten in Active Server Pages (ASP). In addition, a statistics-reporting tool was written in Java using the Java Servlet API.

Scheduling and tracking system

• Developed extensive enhancements to a scheduling and tracking system written in Visual C++ using ODBC with Oracle /AIX as a back end.

Customer Merge/purge system

• Designed and developed an application in Assembler (S/390) to allow the dynamic invocation of a commercial MVS batch assembler Merge/Purge application from within a COBOL program.

Sales force automation contact tracking system

• Performed major enhancements and re engineering to an existing SFA contact management system,

Trading Partner Maintenance Application

• Added a complete functional module to an electronic data interchange application to allow for the maintenance of trading partner management and reporting.

Document work flow and imaging system

• Performed major enhancement work on an imaging system including back-end processing such as archive maintenance and monitoring as well as client-side development (C++) using commercial graphic libraries. Also designed and developed a scripting language to ease the maintenance of the work flow rules.

Radiology transcription system

• Designed and developed a complete radiology transcription system including communications with mainframe HIS system for order communications and results reporting.

Multiple system interfaces between varied platforms

• Developed an array of interfaces between diverse minicomputer and midrange systems to an IBM mainframe platform for order communication, status and results reporting.

Object modeling and design tool

• Developed a complete object oriented modeling tool in C++ called Object Realityä. This product is still under development and is currently being converted to Java.
